Description
Trailing dalea, also known as Trailing Indigo Bush, forms low mounds to 2 feet tall by 8 feet wide. In low desert regions, the small silvery-gray leaves are persistent throughout the winter, and provide year-round interest. This low-water ground cover plant requires very little maintenance and tolerates tough conditions. Dense clusters of small lavender-purple flowers appear on trailing dalea through the spring and summer months.
Maintenance
Trailing dalea will survive on only 11 inches of annual rainfall, but it will be more lush and dense if given supplemental water in the spring and summer. Trailing dalea should be planted in full sun exposures and in soil with good drainage. Avoid planting this ground cover too close to walkways or other plants to prevent the need for frequent pruning.
