| Description: Spanish Bayonet is a large sprawling plant 10' x 10'. Growth is slow. Stiff dense leaves are medium green with sharp points. It tends to bloom when under drought stress situations. Leaves are 2 1/2' long by 2" wide. Leaf margins are smooth. This Yucca species is native to the Caribbean and Southeastern USA.
Maintenance: Plant in full sun or partial shade. Yucca aloifolia is very cold tolerant, but can handle heat as well. Cold weather can turn the leaves purple. Water Spanish Bayonet weekly in the low desert, and water every four days for the first month. |
