| Description: Green Spoon is an excellent accent plant that blends well with many other desert shrubs and ground covers. Can be used in all zones of a xeriscape, looking right at home in the mini-oasis as well as the dry zone. This plant closely resembles a relative: Dasylirion wheeleri, but is acid-green and grows faster. Green Spoon develops a short, thick trunk while reaching a mature size 6' tall by 5' wide. Bloom stalk grows to 10' tall. The leaves terminate into a wisp of fibers. Give Green Spoon plenty of room, as the spiny leaf margins are sharp.
Maintenance: Plant in full sun. Durable accent. Tolerates reflected heat. Requires little water, but will grow slightly faster with supplemental water in the summer. |
