Fishhook Barrel Cactus Photo Description: The Fishhook Barrel Cactus is recognized by the large curved and hooked central spine and the large ribbed "barrel" body. Yellow to dark orange flowers will appear in September and October in a ring around the apex of the plant. This cactus plant produces yellow, pineapple-shaped fruit that is edible. The Fish-hook Barrel is the most common barrel cactus growing in Tucson. Typically grows 2 to 6 feet tall and up to 30 inches in diameter. A great accent plant for anyone who loves cacti and the Sonoran Desert.

Maintenance: An extremely easy plant to grow in and around the Tucson area. It requires little attention or special care, and it is perfectly at home in almost any garden setting. The Fishhook Barrel Cactus is very tolerant of extreme heat as well as cold.
